Weir_MikeThe lefties are rocking it out but Phil is starting to fade a little bit.  The crowd is helping him stay with it but Mike Weir is starting to run away and hide.  There’s no way Peter Hanson stays at -4 the rest of the day or is even in the top 10 on Sunday.  Mike Weir has already won a major.  He’ll stay with it.  Weir is taking out hte toughest part of the course by knocking it stiff and tapping in for birdie.

rocco_mediate_2We’ve got a second thread.  If you missed anything, feel free to check the recap in our first post.  We’ll be continuing coverage until everyone gets off work.  Rick Reilly’s story about Rocco Mediate is currently airing as we type this.  It better be more entertaining than that stupid jacket story he did yesterday.

bethpage-black3We’re back!  The government meeting wasn’t too bad and there was no probing of the body of any kind.  So, we’re happy and bet you are too because it’s Friday.  And, you’ve got a live blog of the U.S. Open to get you through the day!

Sit back and strap it down because it’s the U.S. Open here at Souvenir City.  E-Mail us with any suggestions and follow along in the comments.  We’ll endure the stress of listening to Boomer while you can just listen to us.

UPDATE (12:56 CST): Play has been halted and called for the day.  They’re planning on resuming at 7:30 EST tomorrow.  That’s when we’ll get the live blog going.

Kidding.  We’ll start it at 10 CST due to a prior committment.

As far as we can tell, they won’t likely be playing golf today.  So, should that be the case, we’ll live blog all the action tomorrow for you.  We’ve got that meeting with that FBI person tomorrow morning (don’t ask…) and then we’ll start the live blog.  Most likely to be an all day affair.

Should they continue play today, we’ll live blog that too.

U.S. Open Live Blog!

bethpage-black3It’s day one at Bethpage Black and tee times started at 7 a.m.  It looks like rain could get in the way of the players getting through an entire round.  We’ll just have to wait and see how everything plays out.  So, if you’re at work, just keep hitting refresh and we’ll keep you updated on what’s happening.  If you’re looking for a particular update, let us know in the comments.

Will Tiger be able to pull off the first back-to-back U.S. Open wins since 1988-89?  Or will Phil get an emotional win during a tough time for him and his family?

2009 U.S. Open Bethpage BlackWe did the French Open for Roger Federer’s record 14th major at Roland Garros and it was fun.  And… 9 a.m. EST on a Sunday.  The U.S. Open is giving us an extra hour of shut-eye and starting at 10 a.m.  We know a lot of people at work try to follow tournaments like this.  We did last year.

So, for your enjoyment, it’s coming back.

Starting on Thursday, we’ll be running a live-blog for the entire first round of the tournament at Bethpage.  Coverage goes until 3 p.m.  Feel free to stop by with your camping chair and we’ll keep you updated as to what’s going on from the fairways, fringe and green.

coria_moya_roland_garros_2004Yup, we’re suckers.  We decided to actually do this on our Sunday morning.  People have been complaining about the lack of coverage on TV (we’re in that group) so it’s time that Roger had some proper coverage.  From a blog that got just over 1,000 views this week!  WOO!  That’s still more people than watched the semi-finals.

Can Roger win the elusive French?  Or is Robin Söderling going to sport capris to throw off RF’s game?

After the jump, keep hitting refresh and we’ll be giving our play-by-play Patrick McEnroe style.
