Bruce PearlThis is the final installment of our series today.  We don’t know enough about the hockey coaches to do a post on them and we couldn’t even name one soccer coach.  Besides, we never played soccer.  So, this is the last one before we go into holiday programming.  Oh, and one more POI after this.

1.)  Bruce Pearl – We know he’s a slimeball recruiter.  That doesn’t have anything to do with wanting to play for him.  This guy has more fun at his job than any other coach in sports… except maybe Pete Carroll.  The orange jacket.  The body paint.  The infamous Erin Andrews hug.  All of those combine to make him the best guy to play for in college hoops.  No, he hasn’t won anything yet.  But we bet he makes it to a Final Four in the next 5 seasons.

Kelvin SampsonWhy even bother Kelvin?  You torched two programs and left them years behind from the date you were hired.  There is no chance that this guy is seen in an NCAA coaching role ever again.  He can recruit, but not without cheating to get the guys he wants.  Sampson is currently with the Milwaukee Bucks in an assistant coach role.

Seems about right.

Geneva National Palmer #8Points of Interest is a daily weekend link dump.  We’ll be throwing together some other stops from out there in blogdome and the interwebs to peak your interest.  Some of them will actually be what some might consider educational.  Most of them, are going to everything but that.

We’re playing golf this weekend, so the range is a must again today.  That right over there is the 8th hole of the place we’ll be attempting to break 95 at on Sunday.  Two dozen balls should be good.  Your standard picture is after the jump. The Penguins are champs!  So glad that the dynasty didn’t continue in Detroit.  Max Talbot should have won the Conn Smythe.  We’ll have something come up for that later.  We’ve got another guest post today as well from our resident MMA writer.

The space shuttle isn’t going off this weekend.  Good thing they found it before we had a problem on our hands.  Houston already had to endure the signing of Rex Grossman yesterday……..China doesn’t like portions of this sanction levied against North Korea by the U.N. Handle with care.  That’s all we can say…….Bush Sr. celebrated his birthday by jumping out of a plane.  Points for creativity, old man………..An interview with what looks to be the new top dog in Iran.  He’s pretty trite in his answers and they seem a little caluclated. It is said that he and Obama have similarities and should mesh well.  Your call….

scarlett-johanssonPoints of Interest is the daily link dump for your morning or afternoon commute in and out of Souvenir City.  We’ll be throwing together some other stops from out there in blogdome and the interwebs to peak your interest.  Some of them will actually be what some might consider educational.  Most of them, are going to everything but that.

One more day working-class people!  One more!  We’ve got a big weekend planned on the links.  Playing an Arnold Palmer course this weekend.  Probably gonna head out to Golfsmith and buy at least two dozen balls later.  Be sure and watch the NBA Finals tonight.  Pivotal game, as we discussed earlier.  Once again, we’ll be at TBL where the party happens during games.  Probably drinking and watching Kobe.  *swooons*  Tip us at SouvenirCityBlog@gmail.com!  Scarlett upon request (more after jump, per usual)!  *swoons, but not as big as the Kobe swoon*

Turf war!  Washington D.C.! Sharks and Jets!  Musical interlude required!……Whoa now.  Don’t put all of GW’s problems on the new Grand Poobah. Or, do we?……Your election update in Iran.  That’s the one where we actually DON’T control the elections……Swine flu?  I thought this was done?  It’s a pandemic now? First in 41 years!  PANIC!!!  But, we won’t……..Bruno is going to be an absolute catastrophe. Good work on that one Sasha.

Bar Rafaeli FormalPoints of Interest is the daily link dump for your morning or afternoon commute in and out of Souvenir City.  We’ll be throwing together some other stops from out there in blogdome and the interwebs to peak your interest.  Some of them will actually be what some might consider educational.  Most of them, are going to everything but that.

Big game tonight in Orlando.  If the Lakers win, it’s effectively over and likely in five.  If the Magic win, we’re looking at Kobe Bryant taking a huge hit and having to deal with Shelley Smith following him around for six days.  Played poker for the first time in about 6 months and ended up down $1.  We’d almost rather be down $10 or $50 than just $1.  We’ll obviously have the preview for the game tonight but we’re going a little outside the box today.  Profiling Rex Ryan (we hate everything New York except the Yankees), a list involving the greatest shots in golf in the last 20 years, and a look at what is coming up on TV this summer.  Bar Rafaeli and Leo broke up again.  We’re not US Weekly but we do think that’s (good) news.  More great news (read:  photos) after the jump.

Gunman opens fire in the Holocaust Museum in D.C.  Again, what the hell people? We remember going there as a kid and getting the I.D. Card when you walk in.  We promise we’ll lay off the Nats for a while…..“You’re fired,” and Miss California was dismissed by the Donald……We are really started to get a little concerned at the reach of the Federal government. No, this is not a conspiracy theory…….Healthcare.  Karl Rove.  We’ll let you decide. We read it…….If you only read one article in this section, please, PLEASE read this one.  Discussion on the dissemination and the fragmentation of media.  It’s like how mass production has devalued the automobile…..
