marisa millerPoints of Interest is the daily link dump for your morning or afternoon commute in and out of Souvenir City.  We’ll be throwing together some other stops from out there in blogdome and the interwebs to peak your interest.  Some of them will actually be what some might consider educational.  Most of them, are going to everything but that.

As we’ve said earlier in the week, we have a strange meeting with the FBI this morning so we’ll be back for the live blog around 10 a.m. in the central time zone (barring any sort of interrogation, which we’re not totally convinced won’t happen yet).  We’ve got two posts set to go up this morning for you.  Our standard Touch ‘Em All to recap baseball and a look into athletes and their salaries.  While we’re out, feel free to ask Marisa Miller any questions.  Be polite, though.  Otherwise we’ll come back and delete the classic picture after the jump.  If there’s anything in particular you’d like to see in the live-blog, tell us at SouvenirCityBlog@gmail.com.

Normally we only include real news in this segment, but this is just funny.  And strange….Not only was the guy that shot up the Holocaust Museum a psycho, but they find this disgusting crap on his computer……..We tend to lean left of center in the political spectrum but this is an area where we most certainly lean to the right……..A friend of the blog sent us this earlier and we hope he’s wrong about us possibly diving head first into another war…..But if they go through with this, then we’d be all for going in and taking a stand against North Korea….. Red Herring.  Now that’s a term we haven’t heard since grade school.  Here’s a few of them to watch out for in the economic rebound. That’s right!  We said rebound!

We’re heading out to the game today.  Got some posts to get you through the early morning.  We left NickJ the key to the blog, so, it’s up to him to put up some material.  He’s also a Katy Perry fan so hopefully this does the trick.  SouvenirCityBlog@gmail.com is still the spot to send him stuff. We’ll have a post for pre-game and hopefully should have some nice pictures for post-game.  We have a date with the batting cages at Sluggers around 11 a.m.  Sosa finally got caught with his hand in the cookie jar yesterday.  We did a post on him 2 weeks ago, so we’ll spare you another.

If you have a credit card balance that you’re worried about, read this.  It’s actually pretty interesting. We’re a writer in Chicago.  We plan on giving it a shot……..Big O taking time away from fighting for a College Football Playoff (yeah, right) to give same sex partners benefits…….Someone in Congress is having an affair!  This is breaking news!  We’ve never heard of such a thing!…..At one point in college, we have over $600 in parking tickets.  But, we never got one for parking in our own driveway…….If you’re not familiar as to the history of why what is happening in Iran is actually happening, then this is a pretty concise record for you……

We’re still trying to figure out who is going to run the ship here on Wednesday while we’re at the Cross-Town Classic.  Today is a full day though and we’ve got a lot of things planned.  We’re going to take our first stab at power rankings, MLB Style.  Also, even though the NHL is over, we’ve got some points to make on Phoenix and the ratings spike.  If there’s anything you want to see, let us know at SouvenirCityBlog@gmail.com. Kelly Kapowski will always hold a place in our hearts.

The top 50 highest paid CEOs in the financial businesses……..Really people?  We’re bitching about a billboard now?  Don’t you…….This is completely out of control.  We can’t go on Facebook or any social networking tool without having Iran shoved in our faces. At some point, there’s gotta be resolution……Letterman apologized to Palin.  Ugh.  Now she gets to say she “won” that one.  First time for everything…….The words “Reagan in Berlin” and “Obama and Healthcare” are somehow related here.  We still can’t figure out how……. have better things to do?

It’s starting to get a little slow around here, except that the FBI called us today (long story).  Nothing but baseball for a while, so we’re going to start resorting to drastic measures.  We watched soccer today!  SOCCER!  Stoppage time?  Red cards?  Yup, it’s still pretty lame.  But, we’re going to give it a decent sample size to impress us.  Let us sample some of what you’re seeing out there at SouvenirCityBlog@gmail.com.  The woman to your right is Alessia Ventura, she’s an English WAG.  One of the reasons we’re trying to watch soccer.  You can Google image her on your own time, or just click the jump (NSFW).

We’re hoping that this report is correct.  Because if Cheney really is hoping for an attack, then we hope he rots……Your daily Iran updates can be found here, here and here……..They caught the serial cat killer in Florida?  Oh thank god! Now we can all sleep easy at night……..Another take on Sotomayor.  Is this thing done yet or what?……Forbes is wondering when the new administration officially begins.  Meaning, when can they start blaming Barry for their problems without having folks from the left saying he’s still cleaning up W’s mess.  What a country!…..

We love baseball.  It’s probably our favorite sport.  But we also like Chinese food.  But we don’t eat it everyday.  As much as we love the dog days of summer, it’s nice to have another major sport or two to allow you some variety in spectating.  We won’t rant.  Congratulations Lakers!  Kudos to Kobe!  So glad there isn’t going to be anymore of the “Well, he didn’t win any of those rings without Shaq,” talk.  It’s silly.  Kobe is great.  We’ll try and place him among the pantheon of stars in a post later today.

This is getting out of hand in Iran.  Lots of commentary on the whole ordeal here, here and here………..They’ve been telling us about the analog to digital TV switch for about a year now.  Apparently 300,000 people didn’t get that memo…..Racism is still alive.  And this is an interesting take regarding the shootings in D.C. last week as there being more domestic terror threats due to an African-American President…..Just make stuff up, then contradict yourself later.  Transparency isn’t quite a clear as we expected it to be…… Constitutionality of Uncle Sam becoming the repo man.  Isn’t democracy set up in a way to respond to the current climate though?  We’re not literalists…..

This is a few days old but we didn’t post it until today.  You may have already seen this but, we still think it’s great.  During a regionals game, the University of South Florida and UConn engaged in a dance-off as a rain delay swept through.  They go for quite a while and it really does keep a lot of the fans in the stands to see the conclusion of the actual game.

Props to the coaches for allowing the kids to go out there and entertain the fans.  More often than not, things like this get put on the shelf because of injury risk and whatnot. Enjoy.

You’re free to go.  In a few hours, that is.  Until then, enjoy wasting the remaining hours of your Friday afternoon by picking up what we’re putting down!  This is likely to be our last post until tomorrow as we’re going to be traveling most of the day.  As stated earlier, we’re excited for game seven tonight (thus the puck bunny) so we need to get to our final destination rather quickly.  Golf this weekend, hope you all have something planned as it’s summer time.  We lacked on posts a little today due to an intense discussion over at TBL.  We’ll link it for your consumption.  Link us with your best at SouvenirCityBlog@gmail.com.

Iranian election is starting to get heated.  There’s already one claim to victory……VIDEO of an elaborate drug tunnel in Mexico. Actually pretty interesting. Wonder if drugs were the only thing smuggled through here……Sarah Palin is pissed at David Letterman. By her conception of time, her fifteen minutes of fame will last for over 2000 years…..Are we about to see a sudden spike in interest rates?  What does this mean for the economy?……Taxes, taxes, taxes.  Wait a minute, we didn’t Wonder if it takes as long to sort out at 2000 did here…… have to pay taxes on this last year, did we?
