Hulk HoganHulk Hogan, the Real American, wishes you a happy 4th of July along with the rest of us here at Souvenir City.  We’ll be posting a few things on and off this weekend, probably have a points of interest for you at some point today.  Tonight, the fireworks are going off at Navy Pier in Chicago and we’ll probably be heading to those.  If not, Aramis Ramirez and Reed Johnson are going to be doing some minor league rehab starts in the suburbs and we might check that out.  $5 tickets and fireworks?  Can’t really beat that.

capitol fireworks01We got to thinking yesterday about the 4th of July and where it falls in our holiday rankings.  Now, we’re going to leave out the obvious Chrismahannukwanza time because that’s typically everyone’s number one holiday.  So, as we’ve detailed before, we love lists.  This isn’t exactly a sports list, but we’re still working on the Big Eleven preview so this is our “filler”, if you will.

We’ve always subscribed to the “Celebrate your country’s independence by blowing a small hole in it,” mantra on the 4th.  Unfortunately, fireworks are illegal in our state.  But, they aren’t in Wisconsin.  We were just there for the last two days.  You see where were going with this…

Hopefully the federal authories do not.  Onto the list!

Easter – Meh.  We’re not huge fans other than the fact that the Masters are on every year during this time.  Otherwise, you really only get ham sandwiches for a week and the Easter egg hunt died out decades ago.  And, we don’t have kids and aren’t planning on a mistake little SC for a while.
