Serena WilliamsWe wrote about Whitlock taking on Jim Brown chastizing Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan for not attacking social issues a few weeks ago.  Pretty much when he writes anything, it’s bound to inspire some talking points.  That’s why we love Whitlock.  He’s great material.

This time, he’s taking shots at Serena Williams for being the greatest in her sport:

With a reduction in glut, a little less butt and a smidgen more guts, Serena Williams would easily be as big as Michael Jackson, dwarf Tiger Woods and take a run at Rosa Parks.

Classic Whitlock.

Roger Federer Tiger WoodsTiger won again yesterday along with Federer.  We both think that eventually, Tiger will go down at the GOAT for his sport and Roger is already there.  However, we’d like to have a debate that actually has some ambiguity.  Which of the two will be looked at as the more dominant player?  Who struck more fear into the hearts of the competition when they stepped on the course or court?

audrina patridgePoints of Interest is the daily link dump for your morning or afternoon commute in and out of Souvenir City.  We’ll be throwing together some other stops from out there in blogdome and the interwebs to peak your interest.  Some of them will actually be what some might consider educational.  Most of them, are going to everything but that.

Nice to get back to business today.  Also, hope you all enjoyed younglefty’s ACC Preview, we’ll be doing the SEC tomorrow.  It’s a slow day in sports despite all of the off the field stories.  We’ll go ahead and get a Tiger post up a little bit later because we did actually enjoy his interview of himself.  Tomorrow, we’re playing golf… again.  So, we’ll make sure to have some content up while we’re in transit to the course and playing.  Send us your tips here.  Audrina Patridge because we haven’t posted her yet.

Don’t try to teach your 5 year-old daughter how to drive with her on your lap.  Especially while speeding and swerving.  It’s apparently child abuse……..Some guy lost his wallet in 1982.  They found it in a tree in New York. Only $20 was missing.  Time value of money makes that like $200!……..Looks like the Big O has agreed with Russia to pursue nuclear reduction.  Didn’t Reagan have a shot at this in 1982?……..Still talking about Michael Jackson, 2 weeks later.  Control of his assets have been transferred. We thought he had no assets?……..14% unemployment.  Speaking of 1982….

Three additional links after the jump and why do the FAIL videos seem to always include foreign nationals?  They show us how to NOT open a bottle.

The Gentlemen’s Final at Wimbledon yesterday was an instant classic.  We watched it and fully enjoyed it.  However, it seems like Nike was just waiting for it to end to unleash four straight Roger Federer ads.  They pretty much considered Andy Roddick a formality, which wasn’t the case.  Regardless, Nike rolled out its whole cavalcade of stars to give Roger a pat on the back.

Federer Wins WimbledonThat headline was hard for us to write.  We wanted Andy Roddick to win so badly.  He played excellent tennis and his only real mistake was not putting his foot on Roger’s throat in the 2nd set when up 6-2 in a tie-break.  Roddick played the better tennis.  He was only broken once and it was for the championship point.  We don’t want to sound like whiners, but Roddick had the sun in his eyes on the final game and during others as well.

Congrats to Fed for picking up his 15th slam and not making Pete Sampras’ flight from L.A. for nothing.  He’s now just one short of Sampras’ record 7th Wimbledon title.  We don’t take back writing this headline a few weeks ago, because Roddick should have won at least 3 slams by now with his serve.  But this match goes a long way to giving credence to his game again.

Here’s to a U.S. Open run for Andy on home soil.

Roddick FedererWe don’t want to say it, but our better judgment is forcing us to.  Straight sets, Federer.  Roddick is 2-16 lifetime against Federer.  Likely to become 2-17 around 10 a.m. CST on Sunday.  We hope it’s a competitive match, we really do.  Roddick is the only American that is relevant in American tennis and it’s typically more for his off the court achievements than the on the court ones.

Melanie Collins, everybody.  Hope everyone enjoyed the coaches series today.  We hear there is going to be a PM Round-Up, so we’ll keep the link dump fairly short (UPDATE:  There is!  Holy crap!  We’re in it!).  We’re going to try and attend the fireworks in Chicago tomorrow night.  Haven’t been in a few years and we live here.  Over the weekend, there’s going to be a short on the entertainment.  We’ll probably get up about five posts or so.  Also, we’re looking to hire some writers to help with the load.  If you’re interested, let us know.  Send us some of your work and of course, blogs count.

Usually people take vacations over the 4th of July weekend.  Joe Biden chose a lovely destination.  Baghdad……..Your monthly economy update with all of the broad readings.  Unemployment up, payroll down, and around and round we go……..Being rich and powerful isn’t exactly all it’s cracked up to be.  Be careful what you wish for people……..We love the video that is attached to this article on ALS.  One of the best speeches of all time.  Glad the charity event was successful…….Woman is a screamer in the sack.  Her daughter thinks that the guy is assaulting her.  Guy ends up getting assaulted.  That’s what you get for pleasing the woman……..Real life Jungle Book?  Kid was raised by dogs in Russia.  Those crazy ruskies.

Two links after the jump and the FAIL videos are just too damn good not to post.
